Hi there, Tom here. Below you will find my removal tips before we arrive to move your belongings.

Before your removal van arrives, it's a good idea to declutter your home as much as possible. This will not only make packing easier, but it will also save you money on removal costs.

Go through each room and get rid of anything that you don't need or use. You can donate, sell, or throw away anything that you no longer want.

It's also a good idea to gather all of the packing materials that you will need. This includes boxes, bubble wrap, tape, and markers. You can usually find these items at your online or at your local self-storage such as Shurgard, Safestore or the Big Yellow Storage company.

Make sure to have enough boxes and packing materials to properly protect your belongings.

Once you have all of your packing materials, it's time to start packing. Start with the items that you won't need until you've moved into your new home, such as out-of-season clothes and decorative items. Then, move on to the items that you use less frequently, such as books and kitchen appliances. It's important to label all of your boxes with their contents and the room they belong in. This will make it much easier for us to work with and also for you to unpack once you've moved into your new home.

BONUS TIP: Write on the top of the boxes instead of the side walls - we can always read your notes on the top. You can also use coloured dot stickers (see picture below) that can save us a lot of time to identify your rooms in your new property. Let's say red is your kitchen, blue is bedroom 1, green is kid's bedroom etc. - any sticker will do the job to be honest. This is not mandatory of course, just something that you may want to use if you already have it at home.

If you have some boxes or furniture, personal items or bags that you want us not to touch or move then I think it's a good idea to use yellow sticky notes to separate from the things that need to be moved. You can also create a no touch zone / corner, even a room (bathroom is most common).

One last tip is to set aside a box or suitcase with essential items that you will need on the day of the move. This can include things like toiletries, snacks, laptops and any important documents. This way, you'll have everything you need while the rest of your belongings are being packed up and moved by Tom and his removal team.

By following these simple steps and getting ready before Tom's removal van arrives, you can make your home move go much more smoothly (and also pay less). With a little bit of planning and organisation you can save 25-30% of your home removals costs.

Feel free to get in touch with me here for more information regarding how to get ready.
